Health Policy PhD travels to Lebanon for QE Scholarship

Graduate student Ahmad Firas Khalid is one of the first recipients of the McMaster Health Forum's Queen Elizabeth (QE) Scholarships in Strengthening Health and Social Systems.

Khalid will travel to Beirut, Lebanon this fall to undertake an internship with one of the McMaster Health Forum’s key partners: Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Center at the American University of Beirut (Lebanon). His research will examine Lebanon’s health-system response to the Syrian refugee crisis.

The first incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar is Tatiana Alexandra Montoya González, a medical student in her last year at the University of Antioquia, Colombia. As part of her internship at the Forum, González is identifying, selecting, rating the quality of, and extracting policy-relevant information from health systems-focused systematic reviews and economic evaluations contained in the Latin American health research database, LILACS, for inclusion in Health Systems Evidence.
